Holy Martyr Serapion — July 13 / July 26 (Julian Calendar)

On this day, July 13 according to the Julian Calendar (July 26 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates Holy Martyr Serapion.

The Holy Martyr Serapion lived and suffered during the reign of Emperor Septimius Severus (193-211). During the persecution of Christians, the saint was arrested and brought before the governor Aquila, before whom he boldly confessed his faith in Christ.

For his courageous confession, Serapion was subjected to terrible torments. He endured all these sufferings with patience and steadfast faith, strengthened by the grace of God.

The Holy Martyr Serapion received the crown of martyrdom, giving his life for Christ. He is venerated by the Church as a faithful witness to the Gospel in the early centuries of Christianity.
