✝ Holy Martyr Marcian of Iconium
July 13 / July 26 (Julian Calendar)
On this day, July 13 according to the Julian Calendar (July 26 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates Holy Martyr Marcian of Iconium.
The Holy Martyr Marcian was born in Iconium in Lycaonia. From his youth he was a fervent preacher of the Christian faith, and through his zealous proclamation he converted many pagans to Christ.
For this, he was arrested by the pagan authorities and subjected to torture. He endured his suffering with great courage and patience, never wavering in his confession of Christ.
He was then sent to Cappadocia, to the governor Perenius, who condemned him to further torments. Around the year 258, the Holy Martyr Marcian received the crown of martyrdom, glorifying God through his death.
May the intercessions of Holy Martyr Marcian of Iconium be with us all.
