On this day, September 24 according to the Julian Calendar (October 7 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates Holy King Stefan of Serbia.
Holy Stefan of Serbia, son of Stefan Nemanja (commemorated February 13), was King of Serbia. Before his death the blessed one was tonsured a monk with the name Simeon, and in the year 1224 he peacefully gave his soul into the hands of the Lord.
