✝ Holy Martyr Mamelchtha the Persian (c. 344)
October 5 / October 18 (Julian Calendar)
On this day, October 5 according to the Julian Calendar (October 18 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates Holy Martyr Mamelchtha the Persian.
The holy martyr Mamelchtha the Persian was a priest of the goddess Artemis before he followed Christ. It was his own sister who turned him to the true faith. When the pagans saw the blessed martyr in the white garment of holy baptism, they stoned him to death. This took place around the year 344.
May the intercessions of Holy Martyr Mamelchtha the Persian be with us all.
