On this day, October 1 according to the Julian Calendar (October 14 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates the Venerable Martyr Domnina of Thessalonica.

The Venerable Domnina was tortured for her confession of Christ by the Emperor Maximian (284–305; 307–310) when he came to Thessalonica. The saint was led outside the city, and her legs were cut off up to the knees. The dying martyr lived for seven days, and then surrendered to the Lord her soul, purified by suffering.
