✝ Venerable Ignatius (†963–975)
September 27 / October 10 (Julian Calendar)
On this day, September 27 according to the Julian Calendar (October 10 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates Venerable Ignatius (†963–975).
The venerable Ignatius lived in Cappadocia in the tenth century. His parents dedicated him to the Lord in his early youth. When he reached maturity, the blessed one was tonsured a monk and was soon ordained a priest. Later Ignatius was appointed abbot of the Monastery of the Savior near Constantinople. The venerable father labored diligently for the monastery. Saint Ignatius reposed near the city of Amorium in the year 975. Long afterward his relics were translated, found incorrupt.
May the intercessions of Venerable Ignatius be with us all.
