Translation of Relics of Venerable Lazarus of Galesion — July 17 / July 30 (Julian Calendar)

On this day, July 17 according to the Julian Calendar (July 30 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates the Translation of the Relics of Venerable Lazarus of Galesion.

The Venerable Lazarus of Galesion (+1053) was a stylite monk who labored in asceticism on the desolate mountain of Galesion, near Ephesus. On July 17 the Church celebrates the translation of the incorrupt relics of the blessed father; his life is read in the commemoration of November 7.
