The Dormition of Righteous Anna, Mother of the Most Holy Theotokos — July 25 / August 7 (Julian Calendar)

On this day, July 25 according to the Julian Calendar (August 7 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates the Dormition of Righteous Anna, the Mother of the Most Holy Theotokos.

Blessed Anna was the daughter of the priest Nathan and his wife Mary, of the tribe of Levi, from the lineage of Aaron. According to tradition, she reposed in peace in Jerusalem at the age of seventy-nine, before the Annunciation of the Most Holy Virgin Mary. Her relics were later translated to Constantinople (see the reading for September 9).
