Saint Phoebe the Deaconess (1st century) — September 3 / September 16 (Julian Calendar)

On this day, September 3 according to the Julian Calendar (September 16 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates Saint Phoebe the Deaconess.

Saint Phoebe was a deaconess of the Church of Cenchreae, the port of Corinth. The Apostle Paul mentions her in his Epistle to the Romans (16:1–2), commending her to the faithful as a servant of the Church and a helper of many, including of the Apostle himself.
