On this day, July 4 according to the Julian Calendar (July 17 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates the Holy Martyrs Theodotus and Theodosia, who suffered for Christ in the year 108 AD.
The Holy Martyrs Theodotus and Theodosia were converted to the Christian faith by the Holy Martyr Hyacinthus of Caesarea (commemorated July 3 Old Style). After the blessed death of the martyr Hyacinthus, they too were seized by the pagan authorities and subjected to cruel torments. They were then beheaded for their steadfast confession of faith in Christ.
The Church venerates them as companions and fellow-sufferers of Saint Hyacinthus, and as courageous witnesses to the truth that, once received, cannot be denied even at the cost of one’s life.
May the intercessions of the Holy Martyrs Theodotus and Theodosia be with us all.
