On this day, September 4 according to the Julian Calendar (September 17 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates Holy Martyrs Theodore, Mianus, Julian, and Kion.

The Holy Martyrs Theodore, Mianus, Julian, and Kion lived in the time of the Emperor Maximian Galerius (305–311) and came from the village of Kandavla, near Nicomedia. For their confession of Christ they were arrested and tortured: first they were torn with iron hooks, then shut inside a heated bathhouse. So that the martyrs could not escape, the royal seal was placed upon the doors, but an angel of the Lord set them free. The soldiers seized the saints again and led them outside the city to be put to death. The lambs of Christ first asked for time to pray, and then with joy committed their souls to the Lord. The lawless ones hacked their bodies to pieces and burned them.
