✝ Holy Martyrs Ebentus (Juventinus) and Maximus
October 9 / October 22 (Julian Calendar)
On this day, October 9 according to the Julian Calendar (October 22 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates Holy Martyrs Ebentus (Juventinus) and Maximus.
The holy Martyrs Ebentus (Juventinus) and Maximus were personal guards of the emperor Julian the Apostate (361–363). When the godless emperor came to Antioch, he ordered that the drinking water and the food brought to the market for sale be defiled with blood from idol sacrifices. The soldiers refused to carry out this decree, for which they were put to death. The Church also commemorates the holy martyrs on September 5.
May the intercessions of Martyrs Ebentus and Maximus be with us all.
