✝ Holy Martyrs Cantidius, Cantidian, and Sibel of Egypt
August 5 / August 18 (Julian Calendar)
On this day, August 5 according to the Julian Calendar (August 18 on the civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates the Holy Martyrs Cantidius, Cantidian, and Sibel.
The Holy Martyrs Cantidius and Cantidian were stoned to death with stones in Egypt, while the Holy Martyr Sibel was pierced through with arrows. Although little information about their earthly life has been preserved, the Church honors these martyrs as steadfast confessors of Christ, who through a brief and cruel end inherited the unending joy of the Kingdom of Heaven.
May the intercessions of Holy Martyrs Cantidius, Cantidian, and Sibel of Egypt be with us all.
