✝ Holy Martyr Pelagia the Virgin of Antioch
October 8 / October 21 (Julian Calendar)
On this day, October 8 according to the Julian Calendar (October 21 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates Holy Martyr Pelagia the Virgin of Antioch.
Holy Martyr Pelagia the Virgin, of a noble family, lived in Antioch and was a disciple of the Hieromartyr Lucian (commemorated October 15). When, during the persecution of Christians, soldiers came to seize the saint, she was only fifteen years old. The blessed girl asked them to wait a little, and herself stood in prayer, asking the Lord to protect her from the hands of the lawless. Then she threw herself from the roof of her house and gave up her soul on the spot. This took place in the fourth century, presumably in the year 303.
May the intercessions of Holy Martyr Pelagia the Virgin of Antioch be with us all.
