On this day, September 7 according to the Julian Calendar (September 20 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates the Holy Martyr Eupsychius of Caesarea in Cappadocia. The holy martyr Eupsychius was born in Caesarea of Cappadocia. In one of the synaxaria he is mentioned as the son of the senator Dionysius. During the persecution of Christians under the emperor Hadrian he was arrested, tortured, and thrown into prison. There an angel healed the saint’s wounds. When the martyr was released, he distributed the greater part of his property to the poor, and divided the remainder among his enemies — those who had denounced him and handed him over to be tortured.

When the governor was replaced, Eupsychius was imprisoned once again, and after cruel tortures he was beheaded. From the wounds of the Lord’s chosen one there flowed milk and blood together. The martyr died in the reign of the emperor Hadrian (117–138).
