On this day, June 13 according to the Julian Calendar (June 26 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates the Holy Martyr Antonina of Nicaea, who suffered martyrdom around 284–305 AD.
The Holy Martyr Antonina suffered for Christ during the persecutions of the late third or early fourth century. She was a Christian woman seized by the pagan authorities in Nicaea (in present-day Turkey) for her confession of the Christian faith.
She was subjected to cruel torments for her refusal to renounce Christ and offer sacrifice to idols. Throughout her sufferings, she remained steadfast in her faith, strengthened by the grace of the Holy Spirit. She was ultimately martyred for Christ, sealing her confession with her blood.
May the intercessions of the Holy Martyr Antonina of Nicaea be with us all.
