On this day, June 27 according to the Julian Calendar (July 10 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates the Holy Martyr Anectus of Caesarea, who suffered for the Christian faith during the persecutions of Emperor Diocletian.
The Holy Martyr Anectus was a bold confessor of Christianity who was martyred during the years 284–305, when Emperor Diocletian relentlessly persecuted Christians throughout the Roman Empire. Anectus bore witness to his faith with courage and constancy, and the persecutors put him to death by beheading him with a sword.
Though the written account of his life is brief, the Church preserves his memory among the cloud of martyrs whose blood watered the growth of the Christian faith. His steadfast testimony in the face of death remains an enduring example of love for Christ and fearlessness before earthly powers.
May the intercessions of the Holy Martyr Anectus of Caesarea be with us all.
