On this day, July 7 according to the Julian Calendar (July 20 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates Holy Martyr Evangelos.
The Holy Martyr Evangelos suffered during the persecution of Christians under Emperor Diocletian (284-305). He was beheaded for his steadfast confession of the Christian faith.
The Church commemorates him among the great cloud of martyrs who gave their lives for Christ during the era of Roman persecution.
