✝ Holy Martyr Anastasius
October 25 / November 7 (Julian Calendar)
On this day, October 25 according to the Julian Calendar (November 7 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates the holy martyr Anastasius. During the persecution of Christians under the emperor Diocletian (284–305), Saint Anastasius gave himself up to the persecutors of his own free will. At the trial he boldly confessed Christ as the true God; the godless men beheaded the Lord’s chosen one and then cast his body into the sea.
A pious and wealthy Christian woman, Ascalopia, recovered the martyr’s remains and buried them with honor. Many miracles were wrought at the saint’s incorrupt relics.
May the intercessions of the Holy Martyr Anastasius be with us all.
