✝ Venerable Julian the Hermit
October 18 / October 31 (Julian Calendar)
Venerable Julian the Hermit labored in asceticism in Mesopotamia, on the banks of the River Euphrates. For his holy life the Lord granted him the gift of working miracles. The blessed one saved from death the only son of a widow who had fallen into a well: through his prayer the child stood in the water and did not sink until help arrived. Once, while he was at prayer, the venerable father heard a voice announcing that the end of the Emperor Julian the Apostate (361–363) was drawing near. Soon the prophecy was fulfilled.
May the intercessions of Saint Julian be with us all.
