✝ Holy Martyr Florentius of Thessalonica (1st–2nd Century)
October 13 / October 26 (Julian Calendar)
On this day, October 13 according to the Julian Calendar (October 26 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates the Holy Martyr Florentius of Thessalonica.
The holy martyr Florentius lived in Thessalonica. He fearlessly denounced the false beliefs of the idol-worshippers and preached the law of Christ. For this the pagans seized the chosen one of the Lord and tortured him, and then cast him into a fire, where he gave up his soul. According to one account this took place in the 1st–2nd centuries, according to another at the beginning of the 3rd century.
May the intercessions of the Holy Martyr Florentius be with us all.
