Holy Martyr Tation (†305) — August 24 / September 6 (Julian Calendar)

On this day, August 24 according to the Julian Calendar (September 6 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates Holy Martyr Tation, who suffered for Christ in the year 305.

Holy Martyr Tation lived in Bithynia. He suffered martyrdom for Christ during the reign of the Emperor Diocletian (284–305). When the enemies of God learned that he was a follower of Christ, they seized him and sentenced him to death in the city of Claudiopolis. The saint, terribly tortured and dragged through the streets to the place of execution, gave up his soul at the gates of the city in the year 305.
