Hieromartyr Eutychius, Disciple of St. John the Theologian (1st–2nd Century) — August 24 / September 6 (Julian Calendar)

On this day, August 24 according to the Julian Calendar (September 6 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates Hieromartyr Eutychius, Disciple of St. John the Theologian, who lived at the turn of the first and second centuries.

Hieromartyr Eutychius was from Sebaste in Palestine and lived at the turn of the first and second centuries. When he heard the preaching of the teaching of the Gospel, he believed in Christ and became a disciple of St. John the Theologian; later he met the Apostle Paul and preached together with him in many lands. Eutychius ended his life as a martyr in his native city: at the beginning of the second century his tormentors beheaded him with the sword.
