On this day, August 18 according to the Julian Calendar (August 31 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates Saints John V and George I, Patriarchs of Constantinople.
Saint John V was Patriarch of Constantinople from the year 669 until the year 674, and Saint George I from the year 678 until the year 683.
Both of these hierarchs laboured during the reign of the Emperor Constantine Pogonatus (668–685).
