✝ Venerable Martyr Eudocia (†362–364)
August 4 / August 17 (Julian Calendar)
On this day, August 4 according to the Julian Calendar (August 17 on the civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates the Venerable Martyr Eudocia.
The Venerable Martyr Eudocia, a distinguished Roman noblewoman, lived in the fourth century. The Persian king Sapor took her captive together with nine thousand other Christians. In captivity the blessed woman preached the faith of Christ among the Persian women and converted many of them. For this the Lord’s chosen one was subjected to prolonged and manifold tortures, and afterward she was beheaded (c. 362–364).
May the intercessions of Venerable Martyr Eudocia (†362–364) be with us all.
