On this day, August 5 according to the Julian Calendar (August 18 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates the Holy Martyrs Cantidius, Cantidian, and Sibel, who suffered in Egypt.
The Holy Martyrs Cantidius and Cantidian were stoned to death in Egypt. The Holy Martyr Sibel was pierced through with arrows.
Though little has been preserved of their earthly lives, the Church honors these martyrs as steadfast confessors of Christ, who through a brief and violent death entered into the unending joy of the Kingdom of Heaven.
