Holy Martyr Abudimus of Tenedos — July 15 / July 28 (Julian Calendar)

On this day, July 15 according to the Julian Calendar (July 28 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates Holy Martyr Abudimus of Tenedos.

The Holy Martyr Abudimus (Abudimus) was born on the island of Tenedos in the Aegean Sea. He was a faithful Christian who lived during the reign of the pagan Emperor Diocletian (284–305), when fierce persecution raged against the Church.

During this persecution the blessed Abudimus was arrested for his confession of the Christian faith and brought before the authorities. He suffered martyrdom for Christ and received the crown of eternal life.

The Holy Martyr Abudimus is venerated by the Orthodox Church as a faithful witness of the early centuries of Christianity.
