On this day, July 14 according to the Julian Calendar (July 27 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates Venerable Onesimus the Wonderworker.

Venerable Onesimus the Wonderworker lived in the fourth century, during the reign of Emperor Diocletian (284–305), when fierce persecution raged against Christians. He was arrested for his confession of the true faith and subjected to torment, but by the grace of God he survived.

After his deliverance, the blessed father traveled to Magnesia in Asia Minor, where he built a monastery and gathered disciples around him. He lived there in holy ascetic labor, prayer, and service to God.

The Lord granted Onesimus the gift of wonderworking, and he performed many miracles, healing the sick and helping those who came to him with faith. He governed his monastery with wisdom and holiness.

Venerable Onesimus the Wonderworker reposed in peace in Magnesia, having completed the course of his holy life. The Church venerates him as a faithful confessor and a holy monastic father.
