✝ Holy Martyr Cindeus the Priest
July 11 / July 24 (Julian Calendar)
On this day, July 11 according to the Julian Calendar (July 24 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates Holy Martyr Cindeus the Priest.
The Holy Martyr Cindeus (Cindevs) was a priest who served in the village of Sida in Pamphylia, Asia Minor. During the fierce persecution of Christians under Emperor Diocletian (284-305), he was arrested for his faith.
He was condemned to death by fire. The soldiers assigned to execute him were so moved by his courage and peaceful demeanor that some of them themselves came to believe in Christ upon witnessing his martyrdom.
Saint Cindeus died in the flames, giving his life for his faith in Christ. He is venerated as a holy martyr of the early Church.
May the intercessions of Holy Martyr Cindeus the Priest be with us all.
