On this day, June 10 according to the Julian Calendar (June 23 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates Saint Bassianus, Bishop of Laodicea, who reposed around 409 AD.
Saint Bassianus served as bishop of Laodicea in Asia Minor, one of the ancient cities of the early Church mentioned in the Book of Revelation. He was known for his holy life, his pastoral care for his flock, and his steadfast defense of the Orthodox faith.
He governed his diocese with wisdom and love, caring for the poor, building up the life of the Church, and guiding his people through the theological controversies of his era. He reposed peacefully around 409 AD, venerated as a faithful shepherd who served his flock with dedication throughout his life.
May the intercessions of Saint Bassianus, Bishop of Laodicea, be with us all.
