Venerable Anna and her son John — June 13 / June 26 (Julian Calendar)

On this day, June 13 according to the Julian Calendar (June 26 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates the Venerable Anna and her son John, who reposed around 826 AD.

The Venerable Anna lived in Constantinople during the era of the iconoclast controversy. A devout Christian woman, she raised her son John in the fear of God. Both mother and son embraced the monastic life, dedicating themselves to prayer, fasting, and the service of God.

They are commemorated together as holy ascetics who pursued the life of virtue and prayer in the tradition of the Byzantine monastic fathers. They reposed peacefully in the Lord around 826 AD, venerated by the Church for their holy lives of devotion.

May the intercessions of the Venerable Anna and her son John be with us all.
