On this day, June 20 according to the Julian Calendar (July 3 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates Saint Callistus, Patriarch of Constantinople.

Saint Callistus led the Church of Constantinople during the reigns of Emperors John Cantacuzenus (1341-1355) and John Palaeologus (1341-1376). The holy hierarch labored on Mount Athos before being elevated to the patriarchal throne. He was a devoted defender of Orthodox theology and monastic life. He reposed in the Lord around the year 1363 and was numbered among the saints.
