On this day, June 10 according to the Julian Calendar (June 23 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates the Holy Martyrs Alexander and Antonina the Virgin.
Saint Antonina lived in the city of Crodamnus in Asia Minor. The virgin, burning with love for the true God, was brought by her pagan fellow citizens to the governor Festus. Festus offered her to return to the faith of her ancestors and promised to make her a priestess of the goddess Artemis. The holy woman boldly confessed Christ. The governor ordered a soldier named Alexander to remain with Antonina through the night by force. Alexander wrapped his military cloak around her and quietly led her away. For this he faced the threat of death. Both were tortured: Alexander had his hands and feet cut off, Antonina was burned alive, and Alexander was cast into the fire, around the year 313.
May the intercessions of the Holy Martyrs Alexander and Antonina be with us all.
