Holy Martyrs Kaleria (Valeria), Kyriakia, and Mary

Holy Martyrs Kaleria (Valeria), Kyriakia, and Mary

On this day, June 7 according to the Julian Calendar (June 20 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates the Holy Martyrs Kaleria (Valeria), Kyriakia, and Mary, who suffered in Caesarea of Palestine in the IV century.

The holy martyrs Kaleria (Valeria), Kyriakia, and Mary lived in Caesarea of Palestine during the persecution of Christians under Emperor Diocletian (284–305). After receiving the teaching of Christ and being baptized, they settled in a secluded place and spent their days in prayer. The holy women fervently besought the Lord to end the persecution of Christians and to enlighten the whole world with the light of Christ. The local governor ordered them brought for punishment. They were buried in sand, and then cast into the sea.

May the intercessions of the Holy Martyrs Kaleria, Kyriakia, and Mary be with us all.
