On this day, June 22 according to the Julian Calendar (July 5 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates the Holy Martyrs Zenon and Zina of Philadelphia (304).
The Holy Martyrs Zenon and Zina lived in the city of Philadelphia in Arabia. Holy Zenon was a man of wealth who, filled with love for Christ and a desire to die as a martyr for Him, gave all his possessions away as alms, freed his slaves, and together with his faithful servant Zina set out voluntarily to the governor to confess his faith in Christ.
They were both thrown into prison and subjected to prolonged tortures. Finally, during the reign of the Emperor Diocletian (284–305), the holy martyrs were beheaded with the sword.
May the intercessions of the Holy Martyrs Zenon and Zina be with us all.
