On this day, July 10 according to the Julian Calendar (July 23 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates Holy Martyrs Vianor and Silvanus.
The Holy Martyrs Vianor and Silvanus suffered for Christ in the fourth century. Saint Vianor was born in the region of Pisidia in Asia Minor. For his confession of Christ he was arrested and brought before the governor of the city of Isaura in Lycaonia.
The pagan ruler demanded that the saint renounce his faith in Christ, but Vianor firmly refused. He was subjected to terrible tortures, which he endured with patient courage, strengthened by the grace of God.
During his imprisonment and torment, a man named Silvanus witnessed the saint’s steadfastness and was himself moved to confess Christ. Both Vianor and Silvanus were condemned to death and together received the crown of martyrdom in the fourth century.
