On this day, July 5 according to the Julian Calendar (July 18 civil calendar), the Georgian Orthodox Church commemorates the Holy Martyr Kyrila of Caesarea, who suffered for Christ in the year 310.
The Holy Martyr Kyrila suffered together with the Hieromartyr Theodore, Bishop of Cyrene, who is commemorated on July 4 (Old Style). She was seized by the pagan authorities during the persecutions of Emperor Diocletian and bravely confessed her faith in Christ before her tormentors. She was put to death for refusing to renounce Christianity.
The Church venerates her as a courageous witness to the truth, who preferred a martyr’s crown to the denial of her Lord.
May the intercessions of the Holy Martyr Kyrila be with us all.
